The goal of the Henry-Brumfield Long of VA Project is to determine the lineage of our members as it pertains to Henry Long born about 1650.  The Group C from the Long Surname Project began as descendants of Brumfield Long, but we have determined that some of our members are descended from a probable brother of Brumfield.  And some may be descended from a brother of Brumfield's father, Henry Long.  

We encourage Y-DNA testing as far as you can afford.  You can begin with Y-37 and upgrade as possible.  The biggest value and the most rewarding test is the Big Y-700.  It covers all of the Y-111 STR markers plus an additional 600+ , giving us a total of about 800 STR markers plus over 600,000 SNP markers.  We would like to establish a fund to help those who cannot afford to test all of the way.
