The intitial goals were (1) to compare descendants of Kosciusko and De Kalb County Hammans who were suspected of being descended from a John Hamman described in a 1920's "tall-tale" story by C.P. Hamman (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/%7Eandert/hamman/hamhist.htm); and (2) to determine if a family of Hammans in western Kosciusko County might share a common Hamman ancestor with the Jacob Hamman family of NE Kosciusko. The project has now expanded with the goal of determining the various Hamman lines that have immigrated to America and possible connections to Old World lines
