This is a worldwide project to further explore the various families with the surname of Gloyd and the Gloyd variations. The project is initially based on the male y chromosome 12 marker test for all males with the Gloyd or Gloyd variant surname. Female researchers are urged to encourage any male Gloyds in their families to participate in the project.

It is the purpose of this project to try to establish the connections between various branches of these families, or possibly disprove such connections. Initially, the project was undertaken with the Massachusetts and Maryland families, but other branches/families, unsure of their origins (for example the Missouri Gloyds), are also encouraged to become involved.
