The objective of this project is to determine the origins of families carrying the Gaskill surname. The Gaskill surname has been characterized as an Anglicization of Gascoigne, MacAskill, and MacCaskill. Other variations are Gaskell, and Gaskins. One theory is that the Gaskills were Huegenots.

Both Gaskills in this group as of 10/30/2006 are a 12 marker match with Roderick McLeod born about 1808 in Scotland. The MacAskills and the MacLeods were very close and share much common history.
