The goal of the surname project is to distinguish between different ancestral lines with the same surname or variations of it. Any reasonable spelling variant is included. 

Also please note that, to participate meaningfully, it would be helpful for you to share some ancestral information with the project administrators.  We understand the desire for some privacy, but not sharing any information keeps us from helping you make proper use of your test results.
