Members of the Marrou and Fortune families departed Hautes-Alpes Department, France in 1890 and in 1895. They were from Le Saix, but some family members were from the surrounding villages, such as Chabestan, Sigottier, Les Beaux, Chateauneuf D'Oze, la Batie-Montsaleon, Veynes and Serres. Their first homes in the USA were in the small village of Ottine, Texas and later in other areas of Gonzales and Karnes Counties, Texas. Today the immigrants' descendants are mainly in Texas, but some have ventured to other states. The objective of this project is to find family members throughout the world and to add them to the known family tree members in the USA and in the villages of the Hautes-Alpes Department. We recommend the Y-DNA37 test and the mtDNAPlus test for this project. We also have the objective to offer assistance to other famlies originating in the Hautes Alpes.
