About us

We are the Official Worldwide FINNEGAN DNA Project for ALL FINNEGANS' genetic genealogy

Our objective is to use Y DNA test samples to construct son-from-father pedigrees and thus define lineages and seek common ancestors, so as to be able to see and compare relatedness; which lineages are related to others and which not.
When two lineages are revealed to share common ancestor, they are grouped together in a common ancestor
family group.

Y DNA clusters are refined using autosomal DNA test results and family trees provided by our members. We hope to match individuals who share common Finnegan ancestors and break through researchers’ brick walls.

[1] We recommend ALL MALE FINNEGANS take an entry level Y-37 test or the more desirable Y-111. If you have maternal Finnegan ancestors, try to locate a male FINNEGAN relative to take the Y-DNA test.

[2] We kindly request that Finnegan Project Members post your KIT numbers and direct line PEDIGREES to our ACTIVITY FEED which is ONLY visible to Project Members.

[3] We wholeheartedly encourage ALL FINNEGAN descendants, male and female, to take autosomal DNA tests such as FTDNA’s Family Finder or transfer their prior test results from other companies to our group.
