About us

The Dulaney-Dulany Y-DNA Project will identify relationships between various spellings of Dulany, Dulaney, Delany, Delaney and Delleney, as well as, discover if they're Y-DNA related to Delaune or Delaunay. DeLaune is connected to the DeLaune of France where William DeLaune b1530 Normandy moved his family in 1575 to the London precinct St. Anne's Blackfriars. So far, no Delaune or Delaunay appear on the marker lists of R-A663 project members Dulany, Dulaney, Delany, Delaney. Many testers in this project, having surnames Dulany, Dulaney, Delany, Delaney, descend from R-DF13>FGC11134>CTS4466>A663, with an origin in Upper Ossory (Laois) Ireland. A663's MRCA date is 270 CE. The original surname being O'Dubhlaine. The Bishop of Upper Ossory was Bishop Felix O'Dulany (O'Dubhlaine) d1202. O'Huidhrin's (d1420) poem states, the high chief of the Upper Woods was O'Dubhshlaine. DNA results can confirm relationships and family traditions. It can help settle genealogical questions. When we determine which families have a connection, we save time and effort. We avoid research in the wrong location. For some of us, it may be the only way to determine where to look for an ancestor’s parents. DNA matches also provide an opportunity to find others researching a common ancestor.
