About us

Group 01:  R-DF13>CTS4466>BY84010>A663 is geographically associated with Laois (MRCA 270 CE) and includes Seven Septs of Laois (Leix) surnames; Moore (O'Mordha) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwUYWeyIvO0, Lawlor (O’Lalor), Dowling and variations of the surname McAvoy/McEvoy (Mac Aoidh Buidhe), as well as, (Upper Ossory) surnames Dulany/Delany (O’Dubhlaine).  A research paper, which correlates A663 Y-DNA to historical documents, appears in the 2024 Laois Heritage Society Journal (Journal 11) on “The O’Mordha Chieftains & the Seven Septs of Leix”, authored by Niall Moore and administrator Sharon Kelly.  https://laoisheritagesociety.ie/laois-heritage-journal/  The paper includes page 337 of the Book of Leinster showing the erased and rewritten pedigree of the O’Mordha, as well as, proving Clanmelaghlin were an O’Mordha sept, not Devoy/Deevy (O’Duibh) as previously believed.  Clanmelaghlin were one of “the seven septs of Leix” banished, by the English, from Laois to Kerry in 1609, after the nine years war.  The Dulanys/Delanys were not one of the Seven Septs of Laois that were transplanted to Kerry in 1609.

It's interesting that the Delaney's with this SNP match Fitzpatrick and Brennan testers (Upper Ossory surnames).

Some of the other haplogroups in the Dulany Project, might be descendants of NPEs.
