Our goal is to use yDNA testing to sort out the Dove families that immigrated from Europe to America in the 17th and 18th centuries. We expect that there will be multiple Y-chromosome DNA signatures. Ultimately, we hope to find and show commonalities between previously unconnected lines, as well as prove or disprove long-held views on how these Dove families are related. Most Colonial American Dove families have been well researched by genealogists for decades using traditional methods and more recently autosomal DNA. Both of these methods have time limitations that have prevented us from showing kinship among our earliest known Dove ancestors. The yDNA test have no such limitations. Therefore, we are looking for one descendant from each of our country's earliest known Dove patriarchs, who would be willing to take yDNA test, and join us in our efforts to learn more about our Dove ancestors.
