The main objective for the Doble Surname Project is to validate the existing research of our many Doble researchers. Many of our Doble researchers have been able to search out a paper trail back to Churchstanton, Devon, circa 1645. The other objective is to try to find other Doble lines, to sort out if there are others, and where they originated. There is a line of Dobles in the U.S. which originates in Boston in the early 1700's, and another line in Canada which settled in Sunderland Ontario. Suggestions are that the Dobles may originally have been French or Spanish. Because the Boston group have been predicted to be E1b1b1, their deep ancestry is certainly from the Mediterranean area, and prior to that, Northern Africa.
