There are many, many, many DeWitts in the United States and in the world. Some can trace their DeWitt lines back and some cannot, the hope is to have both of these types of DeWitts test. The Kingston DeWitts (Tjerck), the Long Island DeWitts (Pieter Jans), the Va. DeWitts (Jacob) and maybe some we don't know about, are they all related or not, only testing will tell.  We have also discovered a large group of DeWitts who descend from John Witt of Lynn, Massachusetts.

It is time for all DeWitts to validate and authenticate our lineage, and test with atleast the 37 y-dna marker test (any less than that will not tell the whole story). This testing will help resolve "dead ends and Brick walls", and validate existing lines.

Any male with the surname DeWitt or any other variation of spelling is welcome to test, some examples are: deWitt-de wit-DeWhite-DeWhitt-DeWithe-Dwight-Duit-Daywit-DeVitt-Witt or any other spelling.
