Several men with the surname Dalton appeared in areas of Orange, Louisa, and what became Albemarle Counties on the Virginia Piedmont in the 1730s and 1740s. Over the next century and a half their descendants spread throughout the southeastern United States and west into the states south of the Ohio River; then on into Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and south. Eventually they reached the American west coast in the 1850s and later. Our family group is dedicated to learning more about the genealogy and family history of these Daltons. If you wish to join us in our quest or believe you may be descended from these men, please explore our efforts further under the background tab on the project website.
