Research shows the initial immigrating ancestor to be William Coppidge of Wiltshire, England. He was born in 1646 and died approx. 1700 in Wicomico, Northumberland County, Virginia.
Passenger lists show a Wm. Coppage arriving in 1667 in Virginia. His Grandfather believed to be Richard b. 1585 and d. 1648 Chelworth, Wiltshire, England.
It is believed that a Edward Coppedge, son of Richard b. 1585- d. 1648, is part of this English line. He was born 1608, England and died 1677, Maryland.
