About us
So far, all of our Y-DNA participants are from the United States. The Group 1 participants are thought to descend from John Copas of Maryland and Virginia. Both Group 1 and Group 2 descend from the ancient patriarch of Haplogroup R1b (the most common forefather of western Europe).
Ideally, we hope to eventually have participants from as many Copas ancestors as possible. For Y-DNA testing, tests for direct male descendants of two (or preferably three) different sons of a male Copas ancestor will allow us to establish a baseline DNA signature for that ancestor.
Is your Copas family represented, yet?
