About the Conover or Crownover Surname;
Conovers and Crownovers are descendants of Van Kouwenhoven families who came from the Netherlands in the 1600s with the Dutch India Company to the USA. They were part of the Dutch settlement of Niew Amsterdam (now New York City). Some moved to Brooklyn and later to New Jersey to farm the “Garden State” to raise food for the population of Niew Amsterdam. Other families moved all over the country.

Surnames in Project:
Conover, Crownover, Van Kouwenhoven, Van Couwenhoven, Comber, Conbeer, Confer, Conibear, and many more spelling variants.

We are always looking for more people to get involved in our DNA project. If your interested in becoming more involved, please contact Marilyn Conover Watt or John Hallissey by clicking either of their names on the left hand side of the page, and contacting them by email.
