DNA Research study for all men with a surname of Cofield and any other reasonable spelling variations are welcome to join the project.  Known variations of the Cofield name include Coffield, Coefield, Caulfield, many and others.

The primary objective for members of this project is to identify a participant who "matches" closely with their own test results, which can help them find the paper trail that leads further back up the ancestry family tree. When the DNA information is combined with family pedigrees and other relevant information, the full power of Genetic and Genealogy family research is recognized.  In addition, yDNA and other tests cost less when you order them through a surname project at Family Tree DNA.

It is our recommendation to have at least a male yDNA 37 + Family Finder Tests for your family research.

This testing will aid researchers to establish links between the numerous unconnected Cofield lines who share a common male ancestor.

By joining the group you agree to provide the project with the following 4 items.

 1) The name of the man being tested.

 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest known ancestor.

 3) Permission to publish the Y-DNA results along with the name, date and place of birth of the oldest known ancestor.

 4) Provide family pedigree chart.
