My Great grandfather may have changed his name from Ratigan to Hart my haplogroup now is R-A 259
Here is a picture of my 2x great grandfather Alfred Moore he was born around May 1857 in North Carolina i was unable to find anything on when he died but was told by a cousin that he died sometime around the 1930's-1940's in New Jersey living with his son John Albert Moore (1885-1958). On Alfred Moore and his wife / great great grandmother Mary Ramsey marriage record it had his parents names being Noah Moore and Polly Moore. I can't find anything on Noah Moore. My line of Moore’s live in the Roxobel / Kelford area of Bertie near the Rich Square, Northampton County, North Carolina border. I was told by a cousin that he was told by another cousin that she one did an interview that she says she did on my great Grandma Texie Moore (Walden) who was married to my great grandfather Willam Paul Moore when she was in her 80s. I believe for a school thesis or something. Grandma Texie states that the Walden's descended from free born blacks and didn't want her to marry Grandpa Willie P. Moore because he descended from slaves. Although his mother was a mulatto. My GEDmatch kit number is A983784.

Hi - I received an email yesterday from Peter Biggins and am happy to have joined this group... seems I have the predicted haplogroup of the R-1b type, with a Null value (0) for marker DYS 425. Very interested to see where this leads.
Peter Biggins has asked me to join the project and I seem to be the only Shields in the group. My Shields ancestors most likely came to the USA from St. Johnston, Co. Donegal on the River Foyle. I hope to find any and all who can help me get a clearer picture of my family background. My closest matches in YDNA seem to be named McDaniel, McKenna, McMahon, O'Guin and Colliins.
