Clan Fraser is one of the oldest and largest of all Scots clans. It has one Chief only, namely Simon Fraser who also happens to be Lord Lovat. It appears to enjoy a wealth of 'Sept' surnames - numbering over two hundred including variations. However, these are seldom officially recognised and until someone provides me a list of those surnames which have received "official" status, there is little that can be done. Some of the surnames are already supported by distinct surname projects such as Lovat or Simpson etc., but others appear to have no such distinction. In this project, the aim is to establish actual bloodlines of the Fraser men as well as those of the Septs of the Clan Fraser. But not only that, it is a DNA project and if you have a match with a member irrespective of his surname, then your patrilineal ancestry will begin to be revealed.
