Thanks to everyone for participating, hopefully we will continue to have people test and join the project to prove family connections and to establish kinship between documented lineages and those who have not been able to connect to Pierre.   


THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT are to:

• To locate and test members of as many "branches" of the Chastain (and variations) Family as possible.
• To establish a degree of relationship between members of the Project.
• To establish a relationship to oldest known ancestor between members of the Project.
• To identify the Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) among members of the Project.
• To establish descendancy (or not) for undocumented lineages to Pierre Chastain and the persons he descends from.
• To solicit modest donations from interested parties to assist those who might not be able to afford a deeper test, specifically y700 Big Y testing. 

Documentation: We also would appreciate gedcom file submissions, copies (or PDF files) of any documentation (Bible records, wills, estate papers, obituaries, etc.) that you have used to establish your connections to  Pierre Chastain or your earliest known Chastain ancestor to be added to The Pierre Chastain Family Association database.  This information will help to supplement the DNA results and to document your lineages in the family database and future publications of PCFA.   

Already have a Y-DNA test? We have learned a lot about what the Y-DNA tests can and cannot do over the past 10 years! If you had a basic Y-DNA test done by FamilyTree DNA, you may order more definitive testing using your original sample. Please share your results and the source of your test with the project administrators.
