Some members have contributed not only DNA but some family genealogy too. You can find this under the Results Tab up above [not the "DNA Results" in the main menu on the left] .

Results of the Y-DNA test are expressed in a string of numbers called markers. You will find the markers through the "DNA Results">"Results Overview" in the main menu on the left side of this page [not the Results tab up above]. 

Relationships are established by comparing the markers of the participants in a Y-DNA project.

The process is simple. When you place your order with FamilyTreeDNA, they mail you a genetic test kit and a kit number. You swab the inside of your cheeks with q-tips, place the swabs in a collection tube, sign the release form, and return. the kit by mail. 

For those who have done a free transfer from another testing company, FTDNA requires that you make at least one purchase to be allowed to join a project, even if it is only the Family Finder "Unlock" upgrade at a nominal cost (usually only $9 during sales).
