Buescher Surname Project

About us

It has been discovered that men in Germany commonly took the surname of their wife in various circumstances. In the case of several known patrilineal Buescher lines, the men named Hanebaum (Hannebaum) and Wilkemeyer took the wife's surname of Büscher (Buescher) when she was the heiress/successor to a Büscher farm. The male descendants of these couples have the surname Buescher, but genetically represent some other surname.

The goal of this project is to collect and compare the Y-DNA results of Buescher men, and attempt to group them according to the various "true" surnames.
