About us
THE GOALS OF THE BRUGH DNA PROJECT ARE THREE-FOLD:
1) To identify and verify through Y-chromosome DNA all male descendants of Hermanus Brugh (Bruch), who was born 9 April 1722 in Siegen, Westfalen, Germany. He emigrated to this country, arriving in Philadelphia on the ship Lydia on 19 September 1743. Hermanus settled first in York County, PA, then about 1791 moved with his wife and son Daniel to Botetourt County, VA, where he died on 13 August 1794. Hemanus married, probably in Germany, Agnesa Catrina (Catharine) Meinhardt. They had seven children born in York County, PA, namely Johannes (John), Herman Emanuel, Jacob, Catharine, Mary, Daniel and Salome. All but Salome lived to adulthood, married, and had children of their own.
2) To identify and verify through Y-chromosome DNA all male descendants of Mathias Bruch, who was born circa 1670 in Germany.
3) To identify and verify through Y-chromosome DNA all Brughs/Bruchs/Broughs/Brews in the US and elsewhere in the world, especially Germany, determine who of those share a common ancestor, and establish subgroups on our website for each separate and distinct family.
If your surname is Brugh or any of its variant spellings, please click on JOIN REQUEST and select Option B to join the Brugh DNA Project and order your Y-DNA37 or Y-DNA67 test kit today!
