About us

The Brugh DNA Project has eight members.  Two of the seven have not yet returned their test kit, but results of the other six are posted under Y-DNA RESULTS. We are seeking the participation of any and all Brugh/Bruch/Brough/Brew surnamed males to order a Y-DNA37 or Y-DNA67 test kit through the Project. Results take 4 to 6 weeks after the test kit is received at Family Tree DNA and will be posted to this website as soon as they are reported. Contact the Project Administrator if you have questions or wish guidance in ordering a kit.

In 1778 Hermanus Brugh was Overseer of the Poor in Reading Township, York County, PA. Because of his patriotic service during the American Revolution, his proven lineal descendants qualify for membership in Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) or Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The Project Administrator is a member of Sons of the American Revolution and will gladly advise any member of this Project on the application process. For information on the SAR, see their website at http://www.sar.org/

On November 5th & 6th, the Project Administrator attended the 7th International Conference on Genetic Genealogy sponsored by Family Tree DNA in Houston, Texas. He was one of 180 Project Administrators in attendance, including several from other countries. In addition to the Family Tree DNA staff, speakers included several genetic scientists and academics covering all aspects of the genealogical applications of DNA.

The Brugh DNA Project now has a page on Facebook. If you are a Facebook member, enter "Brugh DNA" in the search box and visit our page. Please add our project page to your "Like" list.
