Results have been received for Bostons for Boston surname DNA testing. Each person tested has the option of not publishing their kit number. There is no risk that test results can be used for any other purpose than genealogy.

Comparing the results of kit #27138 to the results of kit #28734, 35 of the 37 markers tested match. It is almost certain that they shared the common ancestor in the 1700s that they believe they share.
This common ancestor, Robert Boston, b.c. 1710, married Margaret Thornton, 14 Sep 1727, in Richmond County VA. They subsequently moved to Orange County VA. We believe Robert and Margaret had five children: Jemina m. George Petty, Robert Jr. m. Martha Petty, John m. Mary Ann Petty, Joseph m. Rebecca Petty, and Youell m. Jemina Petty. The testee for kit #27138 is a descendant of Youell. The testee for kit #28734 is a descendant of Joseph. The testee for kit #164104 is also a descendant of Joseph.
One of Youell's sons, James m. Nancy Hill, moved from Orange County VA to KY where many descendants subsequently lived. One of Joseph's sons, Benjamin m. Sarah Looney, moved from Orange County VA to Indiana/Illinois after living in KY.
Since we now know that the Bostons who lived in Kentucky/Missouri are related to the Bostons who lived in Indiana/Illinois with almost certainty, it would be valuable to any person pursuing genealogy too use this tool to see if the other lines of Bostons are related.
The DNA test results of kit #44809 show a match for 21 out of 25 markers. There is a very low probability that this testee shares a common male ancestor with the other two testees within the past 500 years.
