About us

An ancestor of Robert Boston certainly lived in Richmond Co. VA in 1702. Matthew Wise, author of "The Boston Family of Maryland" was unable to find Henry Boston, Jr., after 1677, the 21st birthday of Henry, Jr. Mr. Wise theorized that Henry, Jr., went north into MD. However, an alternate theory is that Henry, Jr., went west into VA. All he had to do was cross the Chesapeake Bay and he was in VA. In 1677, Richmond Co. VA was named "Old" Rappanhannock Co; in 1692, it changed its name to Richmond Co. Most of the records are illegible for "Old" Rappanhannock Co. No Boston surname appears in the surviving records. The records for Richmond Co., from its inception, still need to be researched. DNA testing could also help establish the relationship between the MD Bostons and Orange Co. VA Bostons.
