“My great great grandfather was John Morgan Bland, born in the Nashville, Tenn area around 1862 and died in Columbus, Ohio on 7 Apr 1913. He married Dora Ann Schroeder and had a number of children. I am trying to confirm his parents as his death certificate listed his parents as "unknown" but from Tennessee. I think they are Silas Edward Bland and Emma Elizabeth Hall. Can anyone confirm this info?”

This is Enoch Bland (1804-1882) and his 2nd wife Mary Ann Harper (1811-1882) He is the son of Pioneer Thomas Bland (1740-1826) and 2nd wife Rachel Shoulders. This would be my great great grandfather.

I have a brick wall in the Bland branch of my ancestors. As far back as I an trace them, they lived in the Reading, Pennsylvania, area. The oldest known Bland ancestor that I know of was Nathaniel Bland, born about 1840 in Pennsylvania, and married (?) to Catharine Zwoyer born in Pennsylvania. Their son was Henry C. Bland (1859-1907) who married Rosa Ellen Harper. They had 11 children. The oldest was my paternal grandfather, Edward Jacob Bland (1886-1980). I think that this group of Bland's arrived from England and landed in Philadelphia prior to 1840.
