About us

BIDDLE, BECHTEL, BECHTOL, BEDELL, BUDDELL, BIDDALL, BEDDLE, BIDDELL, BIDELL, BIDELLE, BIDLE, BIDDLES, BITTLE, BITTLES, BEDDLE, BEDELL, BEDELLS, BEADLE, BEADLES, BEEDLE, BEIGHTEL, BEIGHTOL, BUDDEL, and any other reasonable spelling variations are welcome to join the project. Only males have Y-chromosomes, so only male BIDDLE/BECHTEL/etc. can participate. If you are female, you can have a related male BIDDLE/BECHTEL/etc. submit a sample for your line. To participate meaningfully, members will need to sign their Release allowing their results to be shared. Sharing results does not necessarily mean sharing one's identity (please see this FAQ for a discussion of privacy). Members will need to set the sharing of their results (not their identity) to "Anyone" on the "Privacy & Sharing" tab of their member page. Otherwise, their test results will not appear on the Project Results page here at the FamilyTreeDNA web site. Members will also need to share their patrilineal ancestry back to their earliest known ancestor, preferably in the form of a GEDCOM. Sharing results and patrilineal ancestry is a requirement, not an option, for participation in the project — there's no real point being Y-DNA tested or joining a project if you don't share.
