The initial goal of our project will be to tackle the genealogy of what most researchers consider the immigrant ancestor for the majority of the Bickford lines in America and Canada - that being John Bickford who perhaps arrived for the founding of Dover, New Hampshire in about 1623. John was probably born in the time period of 1603-05 (in Devon, England) and appears to have died in the early months of 1676 in Dover, NH. Early research and comments have indicated that there were as many as three separate John Bickfords in New Hampshire before 1700 from several different lines. With this project we hope to once and for all answer this question. I also invite our Bickfords in the U.K., Canada and Australia to join. We'll build this family tree concurrently with that of John and find out just where it all begins. I invite all Bickford/Beckford and Bigford families to join us. Thank you, Mahlon C. Bickford
