About us
In September of 2002, Daryl T. Berezik traveled to southeastern Poland to locate civil and or church records from the parish of St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church in Lesko, Poland. The State Archives in Przemysl, Poland houses a collection of records from numerous town and villages including those of Lesko. Daryl located Berezik family members listed in numerous ledgers living at the house numbered 49 before and after 1860, which was documented on the baptismal record of his great uncle Antonius Berezik born in 1888. Antonius immigrated to the USA in 1891 aboard the SS Scandia operated by the HAPAG Line at the age of 1 year old with his father Stanislaus, mother Rozalia nee Nycz-Berezik, 6-month-old brother Joseph, and his aunts Juliana and Mary Nycz. The ledger consisting of births, marriages, and deaths from the mid 1800’s to an unknown year was needed to verify the parents of Stanislaus’ parents Antoni Berezik r: 1840 and mother Catherine Grzybowski-Berezik r: 1840. Unfortunately, this ledger was lost or destroyed; however, Daryl Berezik from the USA, Anna Ceparska, Teresa Ceparska, and Antonio Berezik all of Lesko, Poland continued searching thru older ledgers and found numerous family members with the exact spelling of Berezik also living at the house known as number 49 as far back as 1791. Therefore, we are relying on DNA results to perhaps give us a better connection or others out there who may hold the missing link.
