The goal of this project is to study the ancient history of people with Berezhnoy surname. This surname was common in Eastern Ukraine and in Belgorod, Voronezh, Krasnodar regions of Russia in 19th century. Y-DNA test would help to find main places of living of ancestors of current people with Berezhnoy surname at the period of formation of surnames at the beginning of 18th century. People with Berezhnoy (Бережной) surname and close variants such as Berezhny (Бережний), Berezhnov (Бережнов), Berezin (Березин) are invited to join the project. Another goal of this project is to study migration processes at Belgorod region with usage of Family Finder technique.
