The results to date are for the 37 marker Y-DNA tests and represent families who can trace their ancestry back to the parish and manor of Longmarton in Westmorland, with possible earlier links to Yorkshire and Durham, the latter going back as far as 1066 to the times of the Norman knights and William the Conqueror.
As more people join the project the relationships between the families should become clearer.
