About us
The main purpose of the "Beeson Surname Project" is its focus on yDNA analysis. However, the project also exists as a forum for collaboration and discourse for anyone interested in researching Beeson/Beason family ancestors.
All males that carry the Beeson surname, or any variation, are encouraged to take a Y-chromosome test (preferably, Big Y 700, but 37-markers+ is sufficient) and join this project. The project is also open to all close yDNA matches to any Beeson family grouping.
Anyone that has taken an autosomal DNA tests and has a Beeson/Beason ancestor within the past 13 generations is encouraged to join the project. Autosomal DNA data is value-adding to the yDNA research being done here.
We also encourage membership for those that carry the mitochondrial DNA signatures of the wife/mother of any Beeson/Beason ancestor. If this describes you, please, provide this information upon joining the group.
