The Avars (Maarulal) are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group native to Dagestan region in the North Caucasus (see link).
They speak the Avar (Avar-Ando-Tsez) languages which is simply the standard variety of Avar language (see link).
The Avar's languages form Avar-Andi-Tsez group within North-East Caucasian (NEC) language family (known also as Nakh-Daghestanian).

Most Avars believe in Sunni Islam.
Avars are mainly composed of these three Y-DNA haplogroups:
