This genetic project of the Avar people. The Avars, also known as Ma'aruls, are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group. The Avars are the largest of several ethnic groups living in the Russian republic of Dagestan. Avarian is a collective term; among the Avars there are several sub-ethnic groups, including the Andians and the Tsez (Didoians).
