Surname of this Y-700 test is Greg Wilson (but biologically Tunks or Tonks)
The oldest researched patrilineal line ancestor is Richard Tunks (Tonks) who arrived in VDL 1819 on the Coromandel (convicted at Wolverhampton).
Said to have been born there in 1799 but have not found DNA matches above this ancestor to prove his parents yet.
Greg’s matrilineal line currently ends at Elizabeth Williams b 1879 Warwickshire? - No known convicts on maternal side.
However, I wanted to mention the additional direct ancestor convicts on Greg’s paternal line, in hope that someone shows up with a
Y-DNA from the same convict surname - autosomal DNA confirms the following additional convicts are ancestors.
All of these arrived at Hobart, VDL Thomas PIETY b 1810 Ashford Kent, arrived 1829 on the Georgina John BAILEY b 1792
Mersham, Kent, arrived 1827 on the Governor Ready
John BURRIDGE aka BOWDIDGE b 1810 Dorset, arrived 1845 on the David Malcom
George BANNISTER aka William TOMLINSON b 1814 Lancashire, arrived VDL 1835 on the Aurora
Ann McCABE b 1830 Leitrim, Ireland arrived VDL 1849 on the Lord Auckland
Mary RUSSELL b 1813 Glasgow, Scotland arrived 1830 on the Mellish
Greg’s test is currently Y-111 but has been upgraded to Y-700 (not yet processed).
His mtDNA is still being analysed.
