To demonstrate that there is validity in the concept of family or yiches in rabbinic research. By use of Y-DNA testing of direct male descendants, we will demonstrate the genetic links between families with rabbinic tradition and similar surnames.
This will also accomplish the secondary goals of:
1. attempting to identify a place of origin for the Auerbach's
2. scientifically link various Auerbach families
3. link these families to the scholarly rabbinic research.
