The project started in June 2012. We are now looking for participants in order to be able to start comparing results and establishing the DNA signatures for the various Armitage family lineages. We encourage you to join us in our discoveries.

At some point the project has been abandoned.

FTDNA have reached out to experienced Administrators to take over projects without an Administrator.

2023 - Nigel Brooks an experienced Family Historian from Yorkshire UK with over 40 years experience and a Volunteer Administrator with FTDNA since 2008 has taken on the project.  Nigel has been involved with Surname DNA projects since 2002 and started testing his own families in 2005.  So has a wealth of experience.  Nigel also has connections to Armitage's in West Yorkshire since the 1300's so is keen to help the project especially as it is a Yorkshire name move forward into the future and encourage more YDNA and BIGY tests.
