About us
This surname believes that all people with the surname Amyx came from a common male ancestor named Matthew Amick-Amack-Amyx born approx 1700-1715. His country of origin is unknown.
His sons, Samuel b. 1745 and Matthew b. 1753 show up in Virginia and North Carolina in the mid 1700's. Most of the Amyx descendents come from Matthew, and Amick/Amicks descendents are usually from Samuel.
This project is trying to learn what country Matthew was born in so that we can continue to trace the lineage.
This project is using y-DNA and mtDNA to verify relationships so that will lead us to a probable country of origin.
