The name Alderete is Anglo-Saxon in origin. It’s derived from the Old English personal, or first name “Aldrich,” which means old ruler, and refers to a son of Aldrich.

Spelling variations include: Aldridge, Aldrich, Alderich, Alderidge, Eldrich, Elderidge, Elderich, Aldrete, Alderette, Alderetti, and others.

The name first arose in the English counties of Sussex, Suffolk and Surrey, where the Alderete family seat was established in ancient times.

One of the first Alderetes in the original 13 North American colonies was George Aldrich who settled in Dorchester, Masachusetts in 1639.
