Have you visited our Web site at www.acuff.org yet? Please do!

So far we've identified three distinct origins of the Acuff/Ecoff surname: British, probably Yorkshire and Scottish Borders -- where Black described the appearance of Acuff in Ashkirk during the Medieval period; German (Ecoff); and Scandinavian (Acuff spelling variants in Delaware and Montgomery/Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania from circa 1720).
The Achuff spelling has connection to the Scandinavian origin, but research is underway to confirm  The surname spelling Acup seems to be a branch of the Acuff surname  The surname Acoff seems to be either Eastern European immigrants to the US or it is African Americans whose ancestry has roots in Alabama and Mississippi in the 19th Centuries
