| Assyrian | 218 | The Assyrian areas in the Middle East from which modern-day Assyrians have their origins include the Hakkari Mountains in Southeastern Turkey, the Urmia region to the East in Iran, the Tur Abdin region to the West, as well as Northeastern Syria and Northern Iraq. These regions have made out the Assyrian heartland for the last several centuries.
Before a participant can join the Assyrian Heritage DNA Project, he or she must inform the DNA Project's co-administrators (Mary Yonan yonan@fgi.net, Joel Elias joandjoa@pacbell.net, and Paul Givargidze paul.givargidze@gmail.com ) about which of those five regions is the site of his/her maternal and/or paternal Assyrian ancestral origin. Participants wishing to order a Y-chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) test must be able to trace his paternal Assyrian roots back to those areas within four or fewer generations. If a potential Assyrian Hertiage DNA Project applicant can't provide the requested info, we won't approve joining our project.
If your father's and/or your mother's ancestor's were Assyrians from the Assyrian heartland, you are invited to join the Assyrian Heritage DNA Project. Our DNA Project welcomes all direct line male and female descendants of Assyrian heritage whose ancestors were from the Middle East. |

| Frangieh DNA Project (FFRGP) | 36 | Welcome to the official DNA Project for the Frangieh Family & Relatives Genealogy Project (FFRGP)
This project is here to bring all family members, ancestors, descendants and extended family members of all families of Ehden and Zgharta, Lebanon, primarily focusing on those that have at any point in time married someone from the Frangieh family, including those that have lived in Lebanon and/or emigrated to many countries around the world originating from Zgharta, Ehden and other areas of Lebanon.
This DNA Project on FTDNA is known as Round 4 of our evidence processing schedule. Round 4 consists of Analysis and Processing of DNA Matches, of which the project founder, Raymond Frangie, already has over 1000 DNA Matches of 4th Cousin or Closer as identified via Ancestry, along with numerous matches on FTDNA. This project will allow the project to consolidate DNA Matches globally, making it easier to process and identify relatives. While the project is currently processing Stage 1 of Round 2 in our evidence schedule, given that at the current rate Round 4 may not be reached until 2022-2023, the global project team has decided to run Round 4 in parallel.
For more information and regular updates, please request to join our private group on Facebook, titled Frangieh Family & Relatives Genealogy Project, located here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FFRGP/

The primary objective is to find a possible DNA pattern amongst Puerto Ricans with known or suspected Majorcan/Jewish ancestry. This data would then be compared to the relatively homogenous and distinct DNA found in the descendants of Majorcans Jews today. Their DNA is distinctive even from the rest of the Majorcan population thus enabling one to effectively compare the Puerto Rican results with that of the Majorcans.
All data would be analyzed alongside genealogical and historical information to possibly track the once illegal Jewish emigration from Majorca to Puerto Rico. Members of this project will have some connection to (or combination of) Majorcan, Puerto Rican, Jewish ancestry.

| Mennonite | 953 | This Project is for those whose ancestry is so-called Low-German Mennonite. Note that this is NOT a surname project. Simply having one of the surnames listed below does not get you into the project. You must provide genealogical information to support the possibility that you have Low-German Mennonite ancestry or have reason to suspect that you have Low-German Mennonite ancestry. There are different types of Mennonites so please read the information provided below before you request to join the project.
Also note that simply matching someone who is in the project or matching someone who has known Low-German ancestry does NOT qualify you to join the project. You must provide genealogical information to support the possibility that you have Low-German Mennonite ancestry or have reason to suspect that you have Low-German Mennonite ancestry.
The Low-German Mennonites are descended from those Anabaptists/Mennonites who settled in northern Poland from the early 1500s to the late 1600s. The majority of these people were from the Netherlands, with significant proportions coming from Switzerland and Germany.
In 1772 a large part of Poland was partitioned, with the region where the majority of Mennonites lived going to Prussia. A second partition put nearly all of the Mennonites in Prussian territory. Most of these Mennonites lived in the province of West Prussia.
The Prussian government was highly militaristic which clashed with the pacifism of the Mennonites. Eventually the Prussian government tied land acquisition to military service. Since the Mennonites could no longer acquire new property without giving up their pacifism many chose to leave Prussian territory. Between 1788 and 1820 about a third of the Prussian Mennonites moved to southern Russia (at that time known in German as Sud Russland; now known as Ukraine). After a few generations there were also problems in Russia. Aside from a shortage of land the Mennonites were under pressure by the Russian government to assimilate into Russian society (which included joining the military). As a result large numbers of Mennonites began leaving Russia in 1874. Over the next decade nearly a third of the Russian Mennonites had moved to North America. Because the majority of Low-German Mennonites in North America are descended from those who once lived in Russia they are often, incorrectly, referred to as the Russian Mennonites. This group is known as the Low-German Mennonites because during their 200-plus years in Poland/Prussia they developed their own Germanic dialect, known as Plaut Dietsch, also known as Platt Deutsch in German, or Low-German in English.

Group Projects are an additional way to research genealogical and genetic connections and compare results. Join your DNA kits to this group to learn more about your own lineage and ancestral origins! Together, we explore the genetic diversity, regional characteristics, historical migration routes, and processes that have shaped the modern gene pool of Ukraine, ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants.
🧬 Special attention is given to the analysis and structuring of Y-DNA (ancient origins and matches along the direct paternal line) and mtDNA (ancient origins and matches along the direct maternal line) results, but we are not limited to them.
‼️ IMPORTANT! Please check how accurately and completely each of your accounts is filled out. Open the "Account Settings" page, then go to the "Genealogy" tab. Make sure that both sections, "Surnames" and "Earliest Known Ancestors", are completed. For both paternal and maternal ancestors, be sure to select the "Country of origin" from the dropdown and specify the "Location" (specific places where these ancestral lines originated) on the map.
✅ Properly and thoroughly completed profiles help both you and your matches understand where your ancestors may have crossed paths. If everyone double-checks and fills out this information, finding common ancestors will become much easier.
❓ Have questions or suggestions? Need help transferring your results from MyHeritage, Ancestry or 23andMe to FamilyTreeDNA, ordering an additional test, or interpreting your results? Stuck with an issue or unsure what to do next? Or perhaps you just want to get in touch with someone from the group? Feel free to create a post on the Activity Feed page or contact the administrators directly.
💰 You can also donate any amount of money to the group fund using the Donate button. All funds remain on the FTDNA platform and will be used to provide additional discounts for group members when ordering the Big Y-700 test. More than 10 group members have already ordered Big Y and received an extra discount. Thank you! |

Thank you! |
