About us

The Rossington name is usually thought to be connected to the town now spelt as Rossington, which is near Doncaster, in South Yorkshire. However, research suggests that the true origin is further south in another Rossington, in South Derbyshire. This town is now called Roston. In the Domesday book it was Roschintun for example. Rossingtons and similar appearing in medieval sources, in East Anglia and London for example, may or may not all be related to modern Rossingtons. In more recent times, many Rossingtons can trace their ancestry back to Lincolnshire or Manchester, on either side of Derbyshire.
