About us

From genealogical investigation it seems likely that all Rossingtons alive today may have a common ancestor. This is perhaps not always via paternal lines, for example where men adopted the children of a sister. Our long term goal can be to find out how many paternal lines are in the family, and whether these are likely to be related in a non-paternal way or not.

As a second goal we also hope to be able to cross check the relationships between identified branches of these families. There are often doubts in cases where there are gaps in the paper trails. In these contexts we will be comparing close haplotypes, and trying to work out which are closest to each other.

As genealogists enter the project, they should also feel free to contact me with a short description of any outstanding theories or connections that they may wish to check.

Please also note that concerning the level of privacy for each family group involved I will also try to adapt the webpage according to the questions we most want answered, and the privacy preferences of those most concerned. At this time we are not publishing any findings outside the group. This policy would only be changed as a decision we all make together.

The first challenge will be to seek male ancestors for George Rossington, bap 1834 in South Kyme Lincolnshire.
