Three descendants of Peter Delp/Delph (b. ca 1755, d. bef 11 Dec 1840 in Grayson Co., VA) have participated in the DNA study and have matched each other exactly on 12/12 markers. Their DNA is therefore that of their common male ancestor Peter Delp(h), progenitor of the Grayson Co., VA Delp/Delph family.
Direct male descendants of other Delp families (men possessing the surname Delp or Delph) such as the Conrad Delp family of Culpeper/Madison Co., VA, or the Johann George Delp family of Montgomery Co., PA are needed to determine if the Delps are one extended family or several families that simply share the same surname.
