Project Membership
The Project needs every member to solicit Winchesters to join. We currently have 51 members, however only about 40 genetic surname Winchesters are members. Even with this limited membership, we have learned much (See Results Section). Please use your contacts through local genealogical libraries and societies. We especially need Winchesters in the United Kingdom to join.

Missing Member. We need descendants of William Winchester (1710-1790) who settled Westminster, Carroll Co, MD. and whose son James Winchester settled Cragmont in Sumner Co, TN.
- Great Britain. Winchesters are clustered into two major and one minor groups in the 1841 Census. We need members from these three clusters of counties.
- Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset & surrounding counties (~ 500 individuals)
- Banffshire, Morayshire, Nairnshire, Aberdeenshire and Sheltand Islands (~ 300 individuals)
- Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, Cumbria, Lancastershire (~100 individuals)
- Kent Isle and surrounding Maryland counties
- Union, Cabarrus & Mecklenburg counties NC
- New England anywhere, but especially the Boston, MA area
- Pickens county, SC and surrounding areas
