About us
This project covers Southwestern Virginia to include the counties of: Franklin, Patrick, Grayson, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Wise, Dickenson, Henry, Carroll, Wythe, Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Craig, Floyd, Bedford, Amherst, Pulaski, Pittsylvania, and Montgomery. It also includes a few neighboring New River Valley North Carolina counties that share many of the same families.
The hope is to provide a location for search for others who have not discovered their southwestern Virginia roots. Many families in this area continued to migrate westward and cousins were lost. This project will help others discover their path.
Or perhaps, your family is known to have been in Southwestern Virginia, but you cannot be sure that your surname line in Patrick County connects with another line in Pulaski County.
