FREEDNA TEST OFFER

A Free DNA Test offer to a male who candocument they are descended from frank joseph Quartemont (1878-1961). I will pay for a Y-DNA111 STR marker test . The onlyobligations of the participant is to furnish a good DNA sample and tosign a consent form. Contact the volunteer administrators forinformation: ted-roots @qmailbox.org .

Haplogroup (hap-lo-group) is a termuse by genetic anthropology to indicate genetic populations groups. The groups are often geographically oriented and can be used to maphistorical human migration patterns. For males, Y-DNA haplogroups aredefined by the presence of a series of Y-DNA SNP markers (a type ofmarkers with only two values, meaning that they have mutated onlyonce in human history). A system was developed for naming majorY-DNA haplogroups with the capital letters A through T, with furthersubclades named using numbers and lower case letters (YCC longhandnomenclature). YCC shorthand nomenclature names Y-DNA haplogroups andtheir subclades with the first letter of the major Y-DNA haplogroupfollowed by a dash and the name of the defining terminal SNP. TheseY-DNA haplogroups/subclades make the branches of theY-chromosome phylogenetic tree. These trees are still being fullydeveloped.

One haplogroup in Belgium is the R1b. This is not a surprise, as the R1b group is the most common group inEngland and Western Europe. It will be interesting to see what othergroups show up in Belgium.

Note: without being tested for SNPmarkers, in most cases your general haplogroup can be determined byusing your set of STR markers.

In the last few years, a lot of newSNP's have been identified. My haplogroup is now

R1b1a2a1a1c2b2b1a1or in short form name R-CTS2509. As yet, not enough people have beentest to get a good geographically location.
