General Project Goals:
The Pickering name means "people from the pointed hill". There are several places in England with the "Pickering" name including the "Pickering Castle" just outside of Pickering, Yorkshire. With this in mind, we are hoping to find out just how many different lines took the name of Pickering when surnames came about. So far, we've discovered many more distinct lines than we thought there would be!
--We are especially interested in having men with proven ancestors in Yorkshire, England participate in the project.
--We would like to link the US and UK Pickerings.
--We are also interested in linking Pickerings from around the world (Australia, Canada seem to be places where the Pickerings migrated.)
