About us

Most of the participants in this project belong to the subclade I2a2a3a (formerly called I2b1 Continental 2b) of Haplogroup I2. These men belong to Trees 01, 05, 06, 08, 09, 15, 17 and 18 in the M*CH*MORE One Name Study, which originated in the South Hams region of Devon, England (see http://www.mitchelmore.info), or the tree descended from John MUCHMORE, born about 1670 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA (see http://www.muchmore.org). This result shows conclusively that all these trees originated from a common ancestor. Their subclade is believed to have originated in Northern Germany about 5,000 ago, and it is possible that the men are all descended from a Saxon who invaded England in the 7th century.

Other participants have been identified as belonging to R1b1a2 (Trees 02, 10 and 20), J2 (Tree 11) and R1a1a (descendants of John MUCHMORE, born in Windsor, Connecticutt, USA).
